Energy Recovery System Reduces Energy Costs by 16 Percent
Energy-Saving Option Available on Hobart Flight-Type Warewashers
CHICAGO – May 17, 2008 – A new, optional Energy Recovery system now available on Hobart’s FT900 Flight-Type warewashers allows operation using an incoming cold water supply for the final rinse with temperatures as low as 55 degrees Fahrenheit or 13 degrees Celsius, resulting in energy savings of approximately 16 percent, or $3,200 per year. The energy recovery system captures escaping heat and steam from the exhaust air, using this energy to preheat the incoming water supply before it enters the booster heater where the water is brought to the final rinse-water temperature.
“By using a cold water supply, Hobart’s Energy Recovery system provides an energy-saving option for customers that pays for itself in approximately 15 months,” said Allen Hasken, product line manager of Hobart Warewash. “The savings provide significant value for the long-term cost of ownership.”
To address critical food safety and sanitation concerns, Hobart’s patent-pending Energy Recovery system monitors the incoming water temperature to the booster heater during the initial warm-up period and makes adjustments to assure the final rinse-water temperature meets the 180-degree-Fahrenheit requirements without a lengthy start-up period. This system ensures that the ware is properly sanitized, regardless of the condition of the utilities at the machine.
