Standards for Sustainability

LEED: Turning sustainable design into good business.

The industry standard for the design, construction and operation of sustainable design solutins, LEED is the acronym for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building Rating System™, created and managed by the U.S. Green Building Council.

LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing and rewarding performance in five key areas:

  • Sustainable site planning
  • Safeguarding water and water consumption
  • Energy efficiency and renewable energy
  • Conservation of materials and resources
  • Indoor environmental quality

LEED grades performance in these areas with rating points and credits, certifying your facility as LEED-certified Silver, Gold or Platinum. As you’ll see, credits, points and certification can offer significant business advantages.

Hobart has embraced the LEED standards for sustainable design from their outset, both in our own sustainable design efforts and in our drive to bring our customers the cost-savings, economic benefits and financial incentives that come from adherence to LEED standards in building their foodservice facilities.

That is why Hobart is the first manufacturer in the foodservice equipment industry to give you direct access to LEED-accredited professionals, who can help you get your LEED project started and help give you guidance every step of the way.
