Standards for Sustainability
LEED:
Getting started
with LEED.
To achieve LEED Certification, you need to accumulate a minimum of 29 points and as many as 79. The point system, established by the USGBC, is tied to the LEED Rating Systems and customized to specific types of new construction (schools, retail, healthcare) and major renovations.
Foodservice and LEED.
The creation of a LEED-Certified building involves virtually every aspect of the design, construction and operation of a sustainable design structure. A typical LEED team includes architects, real estate professionals, facility managers, engineers, interior designers, landscape architects, construction managers, lenders, government officials and, foodservice professionals like you. With the kitchen using the most energy per square foot in many of today’s buildings, your sustainable design kitchen can make a solid contribution to the creation of a LEED-Certified building.
Earn from two to 10 LEED points, depending on the percentage of energy performance optimization achieved. For new buildings, energy performance optimization can range from 14% to 42%. And with more than 200 Hobart and Traulsen ENERGY STAR® qualified units to choose from, you don’t have to sacrifice function or choice when selecting equipment that supports your building’s overall sustainable design.
